Early morning and late afternoon have the best lighting for photography, less traffic and people. We believe in capturing the best light our workshops this includes sunrise and sunset (weather permitting). In June, sunrise is early in the morning and Sunset around 8:20 pm. It will allow us to work with each participate to provide complete, informative, helpful lessons. This group size allows for flexibility in our plans if interesting and unexpected photo opportunities present themselves. Participants should be in good health and self sufficient. They should also be comfortable with boats and changing sea conditions. Participants should also able to climb in and out of boats in sometimes slippery conditions carrying photo gear. There are several short hikes on this trip. The participants should have a love of nature and enjoy the company of other people in a small group setting. On the ride back to Bar Harbor we will explore some hidden gems and quaint fishing harbors, lighthouses and seaside cliffs.ĭay 5: Morning Photo Session Trip concludes late morning early afternoon.Īnyone with an interest in photography from a beginner to professional. The Boat ride is included in the tour fee. On the boat ride back we will look for seals. Some of the birds are just a few feet away. This is all weather permitting.įrom the blind on the island we will target puffins, razorbills, and terns. This is an incredible photo opportunity since you can actually land on the island and not have a distant boat view. One day will be taking a boat trip to a remote island off the Maine coast to photograph puffins, lighthouses and seals. Each day will be a photographic adventure. The days are paced to maximize photo opportunities and the schedule will be flexible to maximize getting the best light.ĭay 1 Afternoon: We will meet at the hotel at 4 pm for a quick meeting followed by a sunset shoot then dinner.ĭay 2-4: We will travel to several different locations (depending on the lighting conditions) starting on location at sunrise. Cadillac Mountain sweeping vistas has a view you will never forget. There is a lot less traffic then peak tourist season (July-September) where traffic jams and long lines at restaurants are common.īe one of first people to see and photograph the rising sun in the country. We also will be on the lookout for park wildlife including seals, deer, beavers, eiders, and foxes. Beautiful forests, mountain peaks, wildflowers, birds, lakes, streams, waterfalls, lighthouses, tide pools, carriage roads etc. This is a great time to photograph this awesome area. Some of the Puffins and Razorbills are just a few feet away. There are thousands of birds on the island. This separates us from the other boat tour's who can't land. This is the only place in the US where you can land on a island with the puffins. Weather permitting we will land on the island. We also will be taking a boat ride to an island to photograph Puffins, Razorbills, Lighthouses and Seals. He has led numerous trips to Acadia over the last decade. John has been photographing in this area for almost 30 years. The other boat ride will be for the puffins (see below). We will have a private sunset boat ride to photograph the beautiful coast along with Bass Harbor Lighthouse. New for 2022: We will have two separate boat rides (weather permitting). Experience the magic of the rock-bound coast and soaring granite cliffs where the mountains meet the sea. It is one of the most dramatic areas on the east coast.
